Proxibid, the Omaha-based real auction marketplace, today launched Proxibid Classifieds, a new listing service that gives auction companies and business sellers the ability to sell items directly to buyers.

Using Proxibid Classifieds, sellers can create an account and be ready to sell their items in just minutes. Buyers, meanwhile, are not required to create an account; they can find listings on the site and interact directly with sellers to complete their transactions.

Proxibid charges sellers between $2.50 and $350 to post items, depending on the sticker price of the item.

Beyond creating a new revenue stream with the launch of Classifieds, Proxibid also has created a new portal through which it can introduce its raft of services to potential users. That same strategy played a role in the company's October launch of Proxibid Tickets

Proxibid is touting its new service as a way to bring products to market in an expedited timeframe, which could help auction companies to attract consignments they might not otherwise be able to obtain.

"Buyers and sellers are in need of a safer online format for transacting business directly," Jason Nielsen, Proxibid's vice president of risk and payments, said in a release. "Proxibid Classifieds fills this void by enabling buyers and sellers to use the most trusted name in online auctions for direct and instant purchasing. We know that some other sites are almost overrun with fraudulent listings because they do no vetting of the seller. We are in the business of helping serious sellers meet serious buyers, we just feel that our customers deserve better. We are thrilled to be able to include this value-added service to buyers and sellers across the globe."
