Weekly Wrap-Up: The 100th Episode

Omaha August 16, 2011 by Michael Stacy

In a show that featured a cavalcade of cameos and non-stop nostalgia, the Weekly Wrap-Up celebrated its 100th episode Friday, live from the Silicon Prairie News third birthday bash. Admittedly, it’s taken us a little longer than we would have liked to post this video of the show, but, hey … sometimes that’s the price you pay for partying with Analog the Prairie Dog.

In the centennial episode, Jeff and Dusty touched briefly on Thinc Iowa. But, more than bringing their traditional take on the week that was on the Silicon Prairie, our founders provided their perspectives on the three years that have been. They strayed from the script and brought you a WWU straight from the heart.

There were looks back:

"Pretty crazy that we’ve got 100 episodes in and three years under our belt. It seriously seems like yesterday we were like, 'We should do this thing called Silicon Prairie News.' " - Jeff

“It's really interesting how fast time flies. You look around this group of folks and to think that one, two or three years ago we probably didn’t know many of them and many of them didn’t know each other." - Dusty

There were looks ahead:

“I think the 200th episode we’ll be doing some pretty crazy stuff.” – Jeff

“To the moon.” – Dusty

There were, um, admissions about our first Big Omaha:

“I think Hal (France, executive director of KANEKO and friend of SPN) was excited we didn’t burn the building down, really.” - Dusty

And there was the best darn idea I've ever heard on a WWU:

“We whould have a party for every Weekly Wrap-Up show … margarita machine Silicon Prairie News party every Friday at 10:30 a.m.” - Dusty

And, really, who am I to dissent with the opinion of a man who has co-hosted the bulk of our 100 WWUs? We'll have more on the new, margarita-infused WWU format as it develops. But, in the meantime, enjoy Jeff and Dusty's celebration of a myriad SPN milestones.
