Oh boy, it’s finally here! Tickets for our inaugural Thinc Iowa event are now on sale!

We couldn’t be more excited to bring an exciting new event to the Silicon Prairie. As we announced back in June – “Thinc Iowa is our next big thing” – we’re bringing an important conversation to Des Moines about how startups and established corporations can learn from one another, how they can work together and how they can inspire each other to do bigger and better things.

Too often the corporate side is unaware of what startups are doing or that they even exist. And too often the startup community wants nothing to do with bigger corporate entities that get stereotyped simply as “cubicle dwellers” or “suits.” Thinc Iowa will be a time to engage the entire business community locally, regionally and nationally.

Huge thanks!

We’re so appreciative of the branding and creative work of our partner in this event, Performance Marketing. They’ve been at the heart of Thinc Iowa since day one and we’re excited that you’re finally getting the chance to see the breadth of their work in the just launched thinciowa.com.

We’re also truly appreciative of all the other sponsors who believe in what we’re doing with Thinc Iowa and Silicon Prairie News to put their brand and financial commitment behind it. Please tell the good folks at the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, Greater Des Moines Partnership, Business Innovation Zone, T8 Webware, Quova, DavisBrown‘s Startup Launchpad, Catchwind, Craftly, VolunteerLocal and bHeroic that you appreciate their support. Also, thanks to Shift, Internet Solver and Startup Foundation for their in-kind support of the event.

Details

Thinc Iowa officially kicks off at 7 p.m., Thursday, October 20 with the big opening party that’s open to the public. Doors open the next morning at 8 a.m. for breakfast, and the speakers take the stage one hour later. We’ll wrap up at 6 p.m. for a happy hour and then finish things off with a closing party at 8 p.m. that’s also open to the public.

The sessions will all be held in the historic Temple for Performing Arts in downtown Des Moines (left, photo from templeforperformingarts.com). The “Temple” is state-of-the-art event venue that is situated perfectly on the edge of the Western Gateway District, which hosts premeir cultural events like Des Moines Arts Festival, 80/35 and is the home to the Pappajohn Sculpture Garden. The Western Gateway is also a unique campus-like environment in a downtown setting that boasts several of Iowa’s largest corporations.

Speakers

We are also thrilled to announce our first two speakers: Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership (far left, photo courtesy of Case) and Paige Craig, founder and CEO of BetterWorks (near left, photo from crunchbase.com)

Scott is a technologist, entrepreneur and inventor and was the founding CTO of Priceline.com, one of only a handful of startups in U.S. history to reach a billion dollars in annual sales in less than 24 months.

He was recently picked to lead the Startup America Partnership which launched in January at the White House. He’s already off to a great start leading a national movement “by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs” and working with both the US Government and the many corporate partners who have invested time, energy and financial resources towards the endeavor.

Paige, founder of BetterWorks, a company with a vision to “Make Work Rewarding!”, is based in Los Angeles. BetterWorks is a “business platform where business can quickly create better, more rewarding work environments for their employees while saving time and money” with companies like Hulu and GettyImages already on board. Paige is a former Marine, Intelligence Consultant, founder of multiple defense companies and is now focused on angel investing and advising the right companies within the startup and entrepreneurial space.

More to come!

Scott and Paige are just the first of more than half-dozen speakers that we’ll be announcing as we get closer to the big event. Information on party venues and perhaps a few surprises are also in store.

We encourage you to buy your ticket now (we accept Dwolla) and spread the word. If the excitement behind Thinc Iowa and our history with events like Big Omaha is any indication, tickets will go fast!
