WebFilings changes name to Workiva, hones focus on Wdesk platform

Ames cloud-based business reporting solutions company WebFilings announced Tuesday it will change its name to Workiva, in part to reflect its focus on its Wdesk platform.

Ames cloud-based business reporting solutions company WebFilings announced Tuesday it will change its name to Workiva, in part to reflect its focus on its Wdesk platform.

The company currently has more than 2,100 corporate customers, including more than 60 percent of Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies, according to its data.

“To keep pace with our customers’ needs and meet the growing demand for our solutions beyond SEC filings, it’s time to change our name,” said Workiva CEO Matt Rizai in a press release. “But changing our company name doesn’t change who we are. We’re the same people delivering the same world-class customer service and vision for how Wdesk can streamline work throughout the enterprise.”

Officials say Workiva will continue producing Wdesk as its principal product, and retain the name WebFilings as an SEC solution coupled with the Wdesk platform. Along with the name change, the company made a series of improvements to Wdesk, including improved data collection and search functionality, live-linking technology to insure documents are always synced and a full audit trail, among other things.

WebFilings was founded in 2008 and launched its product in March 2010. Headquartered in Ames, Workiva now employs more than 800 people with offices in 15 cities around the world.
