Des Moines Given the record temperatures on the last day of January, Tuesday evening's Iowa Startup Fair could probably have been held outdoors at the state fairgrounds. But since meteorologists' predictive powers are still far short of Nostradamus, the crowd at StartupCity Des Moines, Amici and other area locations would have to just crack some windows to approximate that fairground feeling. Like wildfire or something else that makes for less trite similes but spreads in equally speedy fashion, coworking spaces and incubators seem to have swept across the Silicon Prairie in recent months. From Sioux City to Cedar Rapids, from the DSM to KCMO, there is, at present, a proliferation of the places opening their doors on the Prairie. Cedar Rapids Downtown Cedar Rapids is getting an office space like it has never seen before. Vault, a coworking and collaboration space located on the fifth floor of the historic Guranty Bank Building (302 3rd Ave SE), is offering free community workspace every Wednesday in August for area entrepreneurs and creatives with plans for a full business launch this fall.
