As of this moment, Thinc Iowa 2012 is real.

That’s what makes days like today so special – we get to let the community in on what we’ve been up to the past few months. The first step, along with our partners Performance Marketing (PM) and Shift, is the debut of the preview site for ThincIowa.com.

PM and Shift have come up with a fun, hand-drawn blackboard design (above) with a traditional feel like something you’d see in a great local pub or in an urban butcher shop. At the same time, it’s hip and innovative for a conference website. It’s also friendly, a characteristic you’ll find at our events – they’re small, around 500, and intimate, you won’t find cavernous ballrooms or empty hallways.

Thinc Iowa 2012 is the second event in our newly commissioned Silicon Prairie Series. It joins Big Omaha and a to-be-named Kansas City event, each focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.

And stay tuned. With our aim to deliver a comprehensive conference experience, this is just the first announcement of many more to come between now and October.

Two full days

We’ve added an extra full day of speakers to Thinc Iowa 2012. That means more speakers and more parties. The opening party takes place the evening of October 9 with the closing party wrapping it up on October 11. With each event we host, we deliver attendees an all-inclusive experience, providing everything from breakfast and lunch to drinks at our parties to ample opportunities for networking. Now, you’ll have more time to make of your experience. So make plans to spend two and a half days with us in Des Moines, October 9-11.

Famous speakers

In the weeks to come, we’ll begin to reveal our 2012 speaker lineup – a mixture of speakers from all over the country representing diverse experience and powerful messages. A few of our past Silicon Prairie Series speakers include Ben Silbermann, CEO and co-founder of Pinterest (below); Dennis Crowley, founder of Foursquare; Gary Vaynerchuk, founder of VaynerMediaSarah Lacy, founder of PandoDaily; and Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.

Tickets on sale August 15

Mark it on your calendars now: Tickets go on sale for Thinc Iowa on August 15. Many have tickets because they purchased a Prairie Pass in March, but if you’re in need of ticket remember this date. Tickets move quickly.
