The startup founded in Denver in early 2010 and now with significant Omaha ties – co-founders, executives and $350k of a $500k Friend & Family Round raised here – officially launched its text messaging service to Omaha venues today. For example, I texted “Omaha Lunch” to 63638 and received back: “Show this text and receive 15% off entire bill, Hong Kong Cafe, 664 North 114th, Omaha, 402-493-8383.”
The MeNetwork’s revenue model is centered around monthly subscriptions from venues, such as restaurants and bars, to their text message marketing platform. Craig Page, COO, said they’ll have a street team in the Old Market today handing out the promotional cards above. With competitive ad sales people hitting merchants throughout Omaha, including the popular daily deal sites, it’ll be interesting to follow The MeNetwork, a non-smart phone, non-social commerce technology, to see how it’s picked up.
