Do you ever wonder why there’s so much buzz around the annual five-day event in Austin, Texas each March? If you’re in Omaha, or up for a road trip to Omaha, on Wednesday, February 2nd you can find out. South by Southwest Interactive is hitting the road again this year, making stops in 11 cities across the U.S., from San Francisco to New York. Omaha, a new stop on the tour, will be the only stop in the cities we cover. Prior to Omaha, the road show is stopping in Boulder, and after Omaha they’ll be in Chicago.
The SXSW Interactive networking party on February 2nd will take place at Slowdown (720 North 14th Street) and will kick off at 6 p.m. The first hour will be dedicated to a SXSW “Town Hall” in which party-goers will have the opportunity to ask questions of SXSW staffers in attendance. Following the town hall, SXSW is encouraging attendees to stick around to learn more from the staffers or those who have previously attended. Overall, they’re hoping these events will allow communities of individuals interested in tech, tech startups and entrepreneurship to get together and network.

SXSW is an event that we’ve attended for the past two years, and frankly, we regret not attending for the past decade. What some describe as a “summer camp” for techies is a five-day event unlike any other. Last year, it brought in more than 14,000 attendees from 55 countries. It’s an event that truly connects a significant portion of the online world offline and sees important products launch or gain traction, such as Twitter and foursquare in recent years.
