Des Moines Ten startups, each 54 hours old, gave their final pitch tonight to a panel of judges and "Unleash Heroes" emerged as the winner of Startup Weekend Des Moines. The Unleash Heroes concept is to devise a tracking and reward system of "hero points" to honor and encourage the heroic activities that people do in their everyday lives, like giving blood or volunteering. read more

Des Moines Startup Weekend Des Moines is entering into it's final hours. What began with 32 ideas thrown out to the crowd of 80-some participants has now been refined to 9 final teams who will pitch tonight beginning at 5:00 PM. Judges will deliberate while dinner is served around 7:30 PM with final awards planned for 8:30 PM.
