If the organizers behind the regional efforts of the Startup America Partnership have it their way, the Silicon Prairie could have three “Startup States” by the end of January. Individuals in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids collaborated to launch StartupIowa on December 13, meetings are underway to launch Startup Nebraska and soon folks will gather in Kansas to get Startup Kansas up and running.

In Kansas, Winston/Meriwether of Topeka is coordinating the effort, a December press release from Winston/Meriwether’s Matthew Gassen announced.

“Our goal over the next few weeks,” Gassen said in the release, “is to organize all of those who are interested in helping to make Startup Kansas a reality, and to officially launch on the 31st of January, 2012. Prior to the official launch, we will host planning meetings to help construct our initiative, and develop the framework for our strategic plan.”

Startup Kansas’ first planning meeting, which will include dinner and discussion about the creation of a coworking space in Topeka, will be held Jan. 11 from 6-9 p.m. Interested parties are asked to RSVP by Tuesday to Zach Snethen at zachsnethen@gmail.com. The meeting is open to the public.
