RAYGUN, raised $582,000 in angel funding from undisclosed investors on January 15.

The company is a Des Moines, Iowa-based e-commerce platform selling printed apparel, home, and kitchen items. In addition to printed t-shirts, the RAYGUN’s online products include drinkware, paper products such as postcards, notebooks, and gift bags, stickers, ornaments, and towels.

Michael Draper founded the company in 2005 by selling t-shirts on campus at the University of Pennsylvania. He moved back to Iowa after graduation to learn screen printing and opened RAYGUN (originally called SMASH) in Des Moines. The internet retail company now has a design studio, screen printing shop, and wood working shop. The company has stores in Des Moines, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Kansas City. RAYGUN sources the shirts it designs and prints from a fair-trade supplier in California, and other products are also made in the USA.
