On their blog today, Dwolla CEO Ben Milne announced the latest addition to their growing team: Charise Flynn as COO – whom they called a “Des Moines rockstar” in their announcement on Twitter. Prior to joining the Dwolla team, Flynn had been working with Dwolla as a consultant through her own consulting firm C.Results.

“Charise has been working with our company building critical relationships during our Series A round and developing hundreds of large clients over the past year,” said Milne in the post. According to the post, Flynn has consulted more than 20 high growth companies in the Midwest over the past 12 months.

In her new full-time roll, Charise will be handling much of the office operations, business-to-business developments, and “orchestrating [Dwollas’] roadmap across marketing, development, and managing the communication strategy.”

From my perspective, this is a big hire for Dwolla, with regards to both the position held and the person who will be filling it. With a little more than a year under my belt of covering the Des Moines startup scene, a month hasn’t gone by without Flynn getting credit from at least one entrepreneur or business figure that I’ve interviewed.

Silicon Prairie News’ Geoff Wood, who is currently utilizing an extra desk in the Dwolla office, has had similar things to say as he has worked with her first hand on a startup he’s involved in himself, VolunteerLocal.
