Lincoln Bulu Box continues to find fertile ground for raising funds in Nebraska. Paul and Stephanie Jarrett, Bulu Box's husband and wife co-founders, moved their young company from San Francisco to Lincoln earlier this year, thanks in part to the lure of $100,000 in financing from a group of investors that included Dr. Jim and Karen Linder and Monte Froehlich of the Nebraska Angels. My company is seeking X dollars. 2. We believe that this is worth Y percentage of the company. Part one of "the ask" is usually the part that entrepreneurs know. I want $1 million for my company. However … read more

Lincoln Silicon Prairie News: Having run a successful Kickstarter campaign for The Prop, what words of wisdom can you offer other people hoping to bring their own good ideas to life through Kickstarter? | Justin Brouillette: We found Kickstarter to both be wonderful and perplexing. The largest challenge is not knowing what you are getting into. Your project may blow up — our project was more successful than we had hoped — and you will get orders from all over the world and most likely have no idea how to fulfill those orders. Ultimately, be very specific about your budgeting, from margins on rewards, to manufacturing quotes, to shipping costs. …  read more

Lincoln Hudl's rapid growth hasn't come without a little collateral damage. Like that second-story landing at Hudl's office in Lincoln. The spot has been a popular place for employees to play basketball, but it won't be for much longer. “Unfortunately, it's probably going to end our summer basketball league as they tear that building down and rebuild it," Hudl CEO David Graff said. "But we’ll make the sacrifice in order to get more office space." Such is life these days for Hudl, which makes web-based video analysis and coaching tools for sports teams. From office space to client base, the company is growing by every discernable metric. … read more

Lincoln Mobile media has been Gary Kebbel's mission since 2007, when he was on a Fullbright scholarship teaching in South Africa. “When my students were bored with me, they’d take out their dumb phones - not smart phones - and do their mobile banking,” Kebbel said in a phone interview. “And I realized then that we in the U.S. are so far behind… in our use of mobile technology.” That’s why Kebbel this month … read more
