Andrea graduated magna cum laude from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a bachelor's degree in journalism, news-editorial. She was the editor-in-chief of The Gateway, UNO's bi-weekly, student-run publication. She was also the newsletter editor for Maverick PR, the UNO chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, which was award the most outstanding chapter in the nation for 2009.

During the summer of 2010, Andrea interned at the Omaha World-Herald and Silicon Prairie News. Previously, she was a copy writer/editor for Hayneedle's flash-sales site, The Foundary. Andrea is now a business development coordinator at Bailey Lauerman.
