As of this morning, applications to compete in this year’s “Get in the Ring: The American Startup Clash” pitch competition are open.

In order to apply, startups must be under five years old, have a founder who is a U.S. citizen and exhibit a “scalable and innovative business idea or model.”

Applications are open through Aug. 15 and U.S. semi-finalists will be announced in early September. After those semi-finalists are whittled down, the five U.S. finalists will compete against five finalists from Mexico and five from Canada in the inaugural North American Startup Clash to be held Nov. 7 in Kansas City. The global finals will be Nov. 21 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Last year, Kansas City-based company EyeVerify won the international Get in the Ring competition and the chance at up to $1.4 million in angel investment.
