Accelerators are popping everywhere around the Silicon Prairie and nationwide, but there isn’t much out there to make sure entrepreneurs are well-equipped to get accepted or start on day one. NEXT, a pre-accelerator program backed by Startup Weekend, Google for Entrepreneurs, Techstars and the Global Accelerator Network, comes to Kansas City later this month to offer a mentor-driven leg up on the rest of the applicant field.

Diana Kander, senior fellow at Kauffman Foundation, leads a team of mentors who will help startups focus on validating a problem, understand customer development, grow their networks and get weekly coaching. The program consists of five weekly, three-hour sessions. Everyone will be expected to do work outside of the sessions and complete a set of deliverables for the following week. The best of the groups will have an opportunity to attend a global demo day in NYC with a curated group of investors, accelerators and press.

The program runs from April 21 to May 19 at the Sprint Accelerator from 5:30–8:30 p.m on Mondays. Register now for the early-bird price of $200—the cost will rise to $300 as the application close date, April 15, nears.
