Last week FullStack, formerly known as Cramer Dev, announced a name change and rebrand after 14 years in business. Now the Iowa City-based development firm is making another big announcement: an expansion to Kansas City.

While this isn’t the first we’ve heard of the expansion, founder Josh Cramer officially announced plans for FullStack’s KC office Monday.

“As our company has grown in Iowa City, there’s a couple things we wanted to do,” Cramer told Silicon Prairie News. “We’d like to impact the community for good, and I’ve been pretty active in supporting community here through no-fee mentoring and things like that. We’re just trying to do what we can we to strengthen and build the entrepreneurial fabric here.

“We’ve enabled some startups to accomplish things that maybe they wouldn’t have been able to otherwise, and I think when we look at KC, we’d like to have that same presence there.”

Cramer notes Kansas City’s entrepreneurial growth and energy as well as developments like Google Fiber and the Sprint Accelerator, powered by Techstars, as other reasons to get a foot in the door in KC.

While FullStack is based in Iowa City, the company’s team is largely remote—in fact, one of the team’s product designers, Ryan Keairns, already is based in KC.

“I’m excited about the potential ways we can connect dots between these two markets,” Cramer said. “I think both being in the Silicon Prairie, everyone needs a network and the stronger the network we can have, the better off the startup community will be.”

One of the ways FullStack is hoping to make those connections—along with a new, to-be-determined office in KC—is through one of its newest team members there. Jonny Kot (right), formerly of KC’s Tech-Pointer and one of the founding partners of the Kansas City Startup Village, will serve as the company’s chief sales officer.

“Clearly he’s been extremely active in that community and has helped support, mentor and advise startups,” Cramer said of Kot. “He gets what we want our brand to be and we can allow him to be an ambassador for us in KC.”

The FullStack team is throwing a Kansas City Launch party from 5-7 p.m. on March 26. The location has yet to be determined but you can RSVP to the party via eventbrite
