Students got together with startups at Beta Blox in Kansas City, the second stop for SPN’s Job Crawl.

It started in Omaha—included Lincoln—spread to Kansas City and ended in Des Moines. The Startup Job Crawl has made its way around the region and successfully connected about 275 students to nearly 100 companies across the Silicon Prairie.

This was our first year including Kansas City in the Crawl, in large part due to Foster Casterline who helped coordinate getting a bus load—literally a bus load—of students (see photos below) to the event. We had a great turnout and response from the bus that took students to three locations, including the Kansas City Startup Village, Beta Blox and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation

But we wouldn’t be able to put the job crawls on without the help of our wonderful sponsors: HUDL, Hayneedle and b2Interactive in Omaha and Lincoln; Webfilings in Des Moines; and the University of Kansas School of Business, Triple-I and Kauffman Foundation in Kansas City.

Tell us what you thought of the Crawl

Here’s what some of the crawlers said about the event:

“It was a great learning experience about what it takes to start and run your own business. I would love to run my own business some day, so I felt inspired from hearing the stories of all the business owners.” — University of Kansas business student

“I really enjoyed it. It was more laid back than other networking events I’ve been to, yet professional. Since it was geared toward college students but in a creative work environment, it was easier for me to open up and not feel over-powered by business suits. The companies all made it very easy to talk to them.” — University of Nebraska–Omaha marketing student

“Completely inspired. It was amazing to spend some time with these start ups and see what they are doing. Their vision and passion is something that leaves you wanting to join alongside them.” — Central College business student

If you’re a student and didn’t get a chance to provide feedback, we would love to hear from you, click here to tell us what you thought.
