Today, the tables are turned for startups and small businesses. They get to be on the receiving end of pitches from Kansas City-area corporations as part of KCnext‘s Reverse Pitch from 3–5 p.m. at the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Board Room in Union Station.

Five companies will pitch specific product ideas to entrepreneurs for the possibility of partnerships and to identify talent. Each corporate presenter will have 10 minutes to state their case, followed by 5 minutes of questions. The entire event will be available via live stream, which you can watch right here on SPN (above).

Here’s a quick rundown of what the companies will present:

DST

Its expertise in software solutions for mutual fund transactions positions the company well for acting as a “broker” for crowdfunding transactions. However, DST needs to know more about the market. The company is seeking feedback about the ideal crowdfunding marketplace and will form a task force based on the most valuable ideas from applicants.

SPRINT

Consumers are becoming numb to mobile banner ads. Sprint’s challenge is to create innovative mobile ad units that are useful, relevant, not considered intrusive, and presented in a way that engages and possibly even entertains the consumer so they want to interact with the ad unit.

H&R BLOCK

In Phoenix, H&R Block has a pilot program with properly licensed advisers offering consumers friendly, unbiased health care coverage advice and enrollment assistance in select offices. H&R Block is looking for information on supporting applications and technology for its DIY and in-person platform, that will better help its clients engage in the healthcare ecosystem and support their navigation of health insurance.

UMKC

UMKC’s Whiteboard to Boardroom program helps advance university technologies to the marketplace. It matches CEOs to companies via its online collaboration platform, CEOBullpen. It will be selecting one company in particular and soliciting for a CEO to run it.

CHIEFS

Chiefs fans have embraced ticketless technology and enjoyed WiFi connectivity at Arrowhead. The Chiefs want to use technology to improve the overall traffic and parking experience for their fans. Among the potential areas of exploration are payment processes, parking processes (ingress and egress), commuter data collection and improving overall efficiencies.
