While Startup Weekends took place the past few days in Des Moines and Kansas City, a different sort of business-building event was hosted this weekend in Omaha. Twenty-seven students from Creighton University, the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln spent the weekend at 3 Day Startup, developing a business idea and executing on it. “The philosophy is that you’ve just got to start doing something,” Alexis Taylor, one of the students organizing the event, told the Omaha World-Herald. “If you think too much and don’t start executing, that’s where you get into a problem.” While teams didn’t actually launch a product this weekend, students walked away with a business plan, advice from new mentors and an opportunity to practice pitching in front of investors—held Sunday evening at Creighton’s Heider School of Business. 3 Day Startup is a global event with more than 70 college campuses participating worldwide. — Source: Omaha World-Herald
