The Silicon Prairie Startup Job Crawl—the event for up-and-coming talent in our community to introduce themselves to startups on The Prairie—will return this November.

The events will take place in Omaha on Nov. 12 and in Des Moines on Nov. 19. Additionally, we’ll host our first Kansas City Job Crawl on Friday, Nov. 15, thanks to the help of the University of Kansas School of Business. The events are exclusive to college and university students and recent grads (within the past calendar year). All majors are welcome and the cost is free to all participants. The format and times for each crawl are listed below.

The community events bring talented college and university students together with the startup community to create connections and discover opportunities. For students, it opens the door for conversation and exploration within the entrepreneurship scene for potential jobs and internships, networking opportunities and simply discovering what it takes to work at a startup. For startups, it begins a dialogue and welcomes future interns, mentorships and much more. The experience becomes valuable in many ways for all participants and we welcome everyone to join us.

New for Fall 2013 – Kansas City

Thanks to the University of Kansas School of Business, we are happy to announce our first Startup Job Crawl in Kansas City. For this edition, we’ll be traveling across the city and stopping at offices in different pockets of the startup community. The format will extend throughout the day, starting at 10 a.m. with students stopping at Kansas City Startup Village, BetaBlox for a demo day, Kauffman Labs and finishing with Think Big Partners at 4 p.m.

Startup companies not already located in the buildings along the listed tour stops can become involved by filling out the Job Crawl form and denoting Kansas City as their crawl location.

KU students will be provided a bus from campus. Other KC metro-area students are encouraged to carpool along the stops of the tour. (More specific information on times and stops will be provided in advance). We do ask students to attend as much of the tour as possible, though we will try our best to accommodate students who need to come and go as their schedules allow.

Kansas City Job Crawl

Date: Friday, Nov. 15

Time: 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Starting location: Kansas City Startup Village

The Job Crawl mixes informal presentations and face-to-face interactions with startups in the community.

Students interact with companies and have the opportunity to explore more about working for a startup.
