Washington, D.C.-based Revolution Ventures announced Monday that the firm closed a $200 million fund led by Steve Case—AOL co-founder, Startup America Partnership chairman and Revolution CEO—as well as Tige Savage and David Golden. According to Revolution, the raise is believed to be the “largest first-time venture fund launched outside of Silicon Valley since the 2008 financial crisis.” The fund will be used to make roughly 20 investments in “innovative, technology-enabled companies that are seeking to disrupt significant markets” over the next three to four years. “While we’re big fans of Silicon Valley, we’ve long believed that a lot of great entrepreneurs and great young companies can also be found outside of Silicon Valley,” Case said in a press release. Case will be in Iowa later this month as part of UP Global’s first UP America Summit. — Source: Revolution Ventures
