Seed Here will celebrate its second birthday––which technically falls on Independence Day––and the “success of the East Coast of the Silicon Prairie” this Thursday with the help of Cedar Rapids’ Vault Coworking space.

Join what organizers are calling the “community launch party” from 5–7 p.m. to celebrate Seed Here as well as a number of other big accomplishments around the region.

Seed Here, a self-described social good company that helps support entrepreneurs in Iowa’s Creative Corridor, was founded in July 2011 after co-founders Andy Stoll and Amanda Styron began noticing more and more startup activity in the region.

“We wanted to cultivate the conditions and community that give entrepreneurs and creatives the best possible chance to thrive,” Stoll said.

Following the most recent news of the return of NextStep, formerly RecBob, to the area and the announcement last month Bandwidth Pool was awarded a $100,000 loan from the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Stoll and Styron believe the Cedar Rapids community has a lot to celebrate.

“As with any startup, we didn’t even know when we started this if there was going to be a future and now there’s a lot of exciting things on tap,” Styron said.

While Styron and Stoll couldn’t specify exactly what those “exciting things” would be as of Wednesday afternoon, they did tell Silicon Prairie News that the news will be announced at the event.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, visit the Eventbrite site.
