The race to bring driverless vehicles to roads near you is heating up, but Tim Sylvester thinks he has found an answer within the road itself. His Kansas City-based Integrated Roadways creates pre-cast sections of road layered with sensors that measure stress and ice conditions—the company has done work for the Kansas Department of Transportation—but in the future it could record traffic patterns, alert crews to wrecks and provide a jolt of power for electric cars through charging pads. He believes a future influx of driverless vehicles would enable his system to communicate with and navigate cars away from hazards. — Source: Kansas City Star
