Plains Angels, a Des Moines-based consortium of angel investors established last June, has invested about $750,000 in three Iowa businesses, the group’s co-founder Mike Colwell told the Des Moines Register. Carroll-based Agren, a 17-year-old agriculture consulting company, took $250,000 from two Plains Angels members, and Sioux Center-based Exemplar Genetics, a medical research company, brought in an undisclosed amount. The third investment remains undisclosed as the company wishes to remain private because of the potential loss of government money. Plains Angels, which is now an initiative of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, has about 120 active members. — Source: Des Moines Register
