The University of Nebraska-Lincoln student-led entrepreneurship organization HIVE is hosting the school’s first Startup Weekend this Friday-Sunday.

After participation in “some of the best” Startup Weekend events nationwide, the HIVE website touts, the organizers promise to “offer UNL the best Startup Weekend experience in the country.”

On top of the regular weekend-long competition – teams race to build a prototype and pitch their idea to a panel of judges – Startup Weekend UNL will offer attendees optional workshops. Topics to be covered at the workshops include business models, equity and pitching.

The event is open to the public. Tickets cost $79, and a student rate is available for $39. To register or learn more visit eventbrite.com.
