Officials set to unveil strategic tech effort Launch KC at Monday event

Kansas City September 6, 2012 by Michael Stacy

Launch KC appears to be just about go for, um, launch.

Said to be a strategic initiative aimed at attracting tech entrepreneurs and professionals to the Crossroads Arts District and throughout downtown Kansas City, Mo., Launch KC will be officially unveiled next week.

A press conference regarding the initiative is scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday on the rooftop of the Barkley (1740 Main St.). The event is open to the public.

Monday's slate of scheduled presenters includes Sly James, the mayor of Kansas City, Mo. and Mike Burke, the co-chair of the Mayors' Bistate Innovations Team.

Buzz about the Launch KC has been building on Twitter and Facebook in recent days, but specifics regarding what the initiative will entail have been sparse.

However, it has been suggested that the timing of Launch KC's unveiling — one day after Google Fiber pre-registration ends — is not a coincidence.

Stay tuned to Silicon Prairie News for more on what that means and for all sorts of other Launch KC information as it becomes available.
