Worried what to wear at the Silicon Prairie Awards? We have you covered

Omaha August 29, 2012 by Michael Stacy

Fashion enthusiast and MC Kanye West once lamented thusly of wardrobe-related stresses: "I can't even go to the grocery store without some Ones that's clean and a shirt with a team."

Some time later, West famously stole Taylor Swift's thunder in one of the worst awards show improvisations of all time.

And while we know that correlation does not imply causation, we also know that wardrobe worries were pretty clearly, unquestionably, without a doubt the cause of West's MTV meltdown. Sorry. It's science.

So, in the interest of preventing West-esque issues from arising Thursday night at the inaugural Silicon Prairie Awards, we're bringing you some sage style advice courtesy of the crew at Lemon.ly.

All along, we've advertised the dress code for Thursday's event as "startup suave." We chose that descriptor because: 1. We like alliteration; and 2. We weren't really clear on a dress code. But Lemon.ly helps bring some much-needed clarity to the issue of Awards attire, in the form of the snazzy inforgraphic below.

Before you pick your outfit for Thursday, take a moment to review Lemon.ly's fashion dos and don'ts. While you're at it, brush up on all the other details for the big shindig. And, of course, snag a ticket if you haven't done so already, because the place to strut your startup-suave stuff on Thursday night is on the orange carpet at the Joslyn.
