Omaha Chamber presents first Common Ground event July 24

Omaha July 13, 2012 by Danny Schreiber

The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce will kick off a new event July 24* geared towards startup executives and employees. Common Ground, a quarterly event, brings together two companies for an open discussion. The event begins at 9 a.m. with a three-hour private session, and then opens to the public at noon for a lunch panel.

This first Common Ground will feature Hudl, a Lincoln startup that makes online video editing and analysis tool for sports, and Proxibid, an Omaha company with a platform for live online webcast auctions. The lunch panel is called "Managing Innovation: How is innovation managed, handled and promoted?" Two representatives from each company will participate, and I will serve as moderator.

Dusty Reynolds, the Chamber's director of entrepreneurship and innovation, described the closed morning session in an email: "Two hours are dedicated for the teams to talk with each other and one hour is dedicated for individuals of the teams to meet with individuals of the other teams. (For example, a) UX guy from Hudl meet with UX guy from Proxibid."

The lunch panel is free to attend. It will take place in The Mastercraft (Suite 146), with lunch from Bombdigs food truck available for purchase.

Update Saturday – When published, date was incorrectly listed as July 17. The date of the event is July 24.
