Join us Thursday at the SPN Meetup with Startup Weekend Kansas City
As usual, Analog the Prairie Dog will be making a cameo at our SPN Meetup
Silicon Prairie News will add two hours to the upcoming 54-hour Startup Weekend Kansas City when we host a meetup from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at The Cashew in Kansas City, Mo.
Where: The Cashew (2000 Grand Boulevard) When: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 12 RSVP: Recommended but not required, visit splashthat.com
The meetup will be the first of the year in this part of The Prairie. At our meetups, you can expect to catch up with other entrepreneurs and startup-minded individuals in the community, touch base with the SPN team – it's a great place to pitch a story – and catch a drink or two in a welcoming environment. The event will also give participants of Startup Weekend a chance to become better acquainted before the festivities kick off on Friday.
As usual, we'll have Silicon Prairie News swag, such as sweet stickers thanks to our sticker sponsor, Sticker Mule.
Startup Weekend Kansas City will kick off on Friday at Union Station, where participants will pair into teams to build a web or mobile application that could form the basis of a credible business. Over the next two days, they'll work to build upon those initial ideas and finally, on Sunday night, the teams pitch their ideas.
Guest speakers to include U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran of Kansas and Danny O'Neill of The Roasterie, and the notable panel of judges includes Evan Conway of OneLouder Apps, Joni Cobb of Pipeline and Thad Langford of OpenAir Equity Partners.
Tickets for Startup Weekend cost $80 per participant and are available through April 13 on the event's registration page. If you're interested in Startup Weekend but don't have quite the 54 hours to dedicate to the experience, register for the event as a Sunday Night Spectator to watch the teams present their work on Sunday evening at 4 p.m. with a dinner to follow. Tickets can be purchased for $15.
Last Startup Weekend Kansas City, which was held in November, will return this week. There's still time to register for the weekend activities.
