Editor of Drake student e-magazine shows off new iPad app (Video)

Des Moines February 16, 2012 by Christopher New & Michael Stacy

Back in December, we brought you the story of Urban Plains Magazine, a website and iPad magazine put together by Drake University seniors in Jeff Inman's senior capstone class. Then last month, an Urban Plains application for the iPad was released into the App Store. Today, we bring you a close-up a look at that app.

In the video above, which was filmed by Silicon Prairie News contributor Chirstopher New during the interview for that December story, last semester's Urban Plains editor-in-chief, Skylar Bergl, provides a walk-through of the newest edition of the Urban Plains magazine iPad app.

To create the app, the students used Mag+, a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) publishing tool that integrates with Adobe's InDesign and, according to the Mag+ site, requires "no coding." Bergl provides plenty of other details about the e-publishing project, so check out the video for more.

And for even more on Urban Plains, see our December story, "Drake class makes iPad app a study in e-publishing."
