Cornstalks returns to its regularly scheduled time this month with a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday featuring Stephen George (left), the co-founder and chief investment officer of Capricorn Investment Group.

The evening begins at with a cocktail and appetizer reception and continues with George’s presentation at 7 p.m. This month’s meeting takes place the night before the Nebraska Summit on Entrepreneurship and at the same venue as the Summit, the Embassy Suites Omaha-La Vista/Hotel and Conference Center (12520 Westport Parkway in La Vista).

George is the co-founder and chief investment officer of Capricorn, a private investment firm that has about $5 billion under management and serves as the investment arm of former eBay president Jeff Skoll. Since Capricorn was established in 2002, George has led overall investment strategy, capital allocation, global equity investments, risk management and development of the firm.

Cornstalks, which is run by the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, is a monthly forum for individuals interested in high-growth entrepreneurship. This month’s event is also sponsored by the Greater Omaha Young Professionals, Lincoln’s Young Professional Group and Connecting Young Nebraskans.

The event is free to attend but organizers ask that attendees register in advance on the event’s signup page.
