In the midst of a particularly unpredictable Midwestern winter that’s seen the weather outside fluctuate from frightful to delightful in the blink of a meteorologist’s eye, it’s not entirely surprising to see a weather application receive a warm welcome. But the high marks for OneLouder‘s latest application, 1Weather, appear to be based on more than just the fortuitous timing of its launch.

OneLouder, a Kansas City-based developer of social mobile apps, released 1Weather into the Android Market on Jan. 11. The app, touted by OneLouder as “an alternative to cookie cutter weather apps,” is available for free download.

1Weather provides users with a full suite of up-to-the-minute weather information, including animated maps and radar, daily weather alarms and severe condition alerts to allow users to proactively prepare for changing conditions. Plus, as is the norm with OneLouder’s socially driven apps, 1Weather has the ability to aggregate topical tweets — in this case, weather-related ones from a user’s area.

OneLouder, which we last covered following the December release of BaconReader is also the company behind apps like FriendCaster, TweetCaster and ChannelCaster.
