StartupCity Des Moines, a tech startup incubator which opened its doors in October, is the focus of a short video on MSN’s Business on Main, which is billed as an “entrepreneur’s source for news and commentary on today’s pressing small-business issues.”
“A tech incubator is born in an unlikely place,” MSN’s Chris Cashman says to open the video.

Christian Renaud, a principal of StartupCity and founder of the startup Presentio, is the main subject of the video. “When you’re in a state of 3 million people, you don’t necessarily have that infrastructure,” Renaud says, “so you need to almost artificially create it by aggregating a number of non-linear thinkers in the same space.”
The video tour and description of the space includes interviews with Emma Peterson of Tikly, Matthew Smith of Real Estate Fan Pages and Dylan Hamilton of ShareWhere, all part of StartupCity’s inaugural class. In exchange for its mentorship, office space and other services, StartupCity takes a 3 percent stake in each company.
