Sans top hat and press conference, we’re still celebrating Groundhog’s Day from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Silicon Prairie News meetup with Hatchlings.

On Feb. 2 the nation will prepare for a highly anticipated holiday of the year: Groundhog Day. Though it’s safe to say that this Midwest winter has felt more like a Canadian summer, there’s still an urge for us to hold out for a shadow. From 5-7 p.m. that night – shadow or no shadow – we’ll celebrate Groundhog Day with a furry friend from a related genus, Analog the Prairie Dog, at the Silicon Prairie News Meetup with Hatchlings.

Join us at Raccoon River for drinks as we see what the next six weeks of the season holds for us on the Silicon Prairie. You may be familiar with Raccoon River if you attended Thinc Iowa when we used the location for our Happy Hour. But, don’t be fooled Bill Murray, this meetup won’t replay like a scene from 1993’s Groundhog Day. Look forward to a similar networking experience but also a chance to make new connections, meet with the Silicon Prairie News team and spokesrodent and learn more about Hatchlings, our meetup sponsor. The marketing director’s job will be to help Hatchlings grow from 3 million to 30 million users in 2012. Hatchlings is looking for a creative, action oriented, results driven, enthusiastic individual who is able to critically analyze data and track metrics to achieve results. It wants a thinker and a strategizer who is playing chess while their competitors are playing checkers.

Community Manager, Full-Time (Des Moines)

Hatchlings needs an enthusiastic, chipper leader for our large and vibrant fan community. The ideal candidate is one of those people who is always friendly, polite, and courteous even when the customer is not. Strong communication skills and writing abilities are required.
