For hungry Battle Bears fans whose appetites we whet with the preview we provided of SkyVu Entertainment‘s latest project back in August, the feast has finally arrived. Omaha-based SkyVu today released Battle Bears Royale, its first multiplayer game, for free download in the App Store

“This is truly the best Battle Bears game to date,” a SkyVu press release said. “Our fans have been begging for a multiplayer Battle Bears game for a long time, and we’re happy to introduce to the market an innovative multiplayer shooter experience.”

The game is available for iOS devices third generation and newer and allows up to four players per team. Like previous SkyVu offerings, Royale is a shooter game that revoles around weapon-wielding cartoon bears. In a blog post announcing the release of the game, SkyVu highlighted several of its features:

  • iTunes’ first and greatest online, multiplayer, class based shooter.
  • 5 Distinct classes to choose from.
  • A vast array of class specific weaponry to unlock
  • A multitude of costumes/skins to further customize your character.
  • 4 arenas varying from open air to closed spaces.
  • Content updates and expansions to ALL of the above!

Royale uses a freemium model, so while gamers download and play the game for free, SkyVu makes money through the purchase of in-game enhancements and upgrades. “But,” the SkyVu release pointed out, “the game is designed to allow the player to acquire everything without paying a dime should they so choose.”

SkyVu CEO Benjamin Vu explained during a demonstration of Royale at Cornstalks Demo Night in August that the game is aimed at teens and other gamers who play first-person shooter games like Call of Action. “This interface is a little more complex,” Vu said then, “because we anticipate a little more hardcore audience playing this game.”

SkyVu produced the game in partnership with Recharge Studios, a company based in Sartell, Minn. that helps with analytics, funding and marketing.
