A new mobile app touted by its creators as “the first of its kind … created exclusively for Des Moines” aims to take the guesswork out of finding the top drink deals in Des Moines.

Let’s Drink, created by Punch Media of Des Moines, is an app designed to help users save money by finding the city’s best food and drink specials. The app is currently available for free download in the App Store, and an Android version is scheduled for release soon.

Let’s Drink uses GPS technology to determine the location of a user and display nearby specials. An interactive map or list view gives users the option to sort by drink types, and the app allows users to create a list of their favorite locations and check those places’ daily specials. In all, Punch Media says, the app includes more than 600 specials.

“The idea was born from a simple question that comes up again and again when people go out: ‘What, and where, is the best drink deal tonight?’ ” Josh Ames, the CEO of Punch Media, said in a release. “There was never an easy way to access that information on the go in Des Moines.”

The app’s other features and functions include the ability to look ahead to upcoming deals and share specials with friends via Facebook and Twitter. And if Let’s Drink is a little too effective in helping users find drink specials? Not to worry. It also has a feature to help users contact local cab companies.
