Rural Young Entrepreneur Summit – Wednesday, 4:30 p.m.

Ames, Iowa – Iowa State University Center (3rd Floor of the Scheman Building

The event features SBA Deputy Administrator Marie Johns and USDA Deputy Under-Secretary for Rural Development Doug O’Brien, who will share their perspectives and stories of young entrepreneurial successes from around the country, as well as present a panel discussion with four rural Iowa young entrepreneurs. The panel members will explore how they got into business at a young age and take questions from young entrepreneurs in attendance.

Gigabit City Continues with 1,001 Ideas for Google Fiber in Kansas City – Thursday, 10 a.m.

Kansas City – Central Library (14 W. 10th St.)

Mike Brown, strategic innovation expert at The Brainzooming Group, presents ideas for how the Google Fiber gigabit broadband Internet service can be used to benefit Kansas City. Brown, along with leaders from the Social Media Club of Kansas City, will present an overview of the GigabitCity results in conjunction with the release of the first GigabitCity recap document to the public. The hope is that by releasing all the results from the first brainstorming session, all Kansas Citians can take part in shaping how Google Fiber will impact their lives and their communities.

Bringing Nebraska to the World: Innovation on the Prairie is the theme for TEDxLincoln, an independently organized event designed to foster the sharing of ideas and connecting people scheduled for Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Tickets to the live event are SOLD OUT, however the offsite viewing will take place at the Lincoln Community Foundation building.

Startup Weekend Kansas City – Friday -Sunday, 7 p.m.

Kansas City – Cerner Innovations Campus (10236 Marion Park Dr.)

Kansas City will be one of 21 cities participating in Startup Weekend Nov. 11-13. The 54-hour event, during which participants build ideas into web or mobile applications that could form the basis of credible businesses, returns to the city as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

2011 Immigrant Entrepreneurs Summit – Saturday 9-12 p.m.

Des Moines – Drake University (2507 University Ave.)

The Summit will exhibit the success stories of immigrant entrepreneurs. Create true understanding among different ethnic groups and business growth tips are shared among immigrant business owners and the keys to succeed by working with immigrant populations are shared in a noncompetitive and supportive environment.
