Recorded Friday, October 21. This is the Livestream version, look for the final cut from Event 1 Video to be published in the coming weeks.

The inaugural Thinc Iowa conference provided an arena for conversation on the common ground between established corporations and startups. Nine speakers, ranging from the founder of a new payments network to the chairman of a worldwide advertising network, took the stage Friday at the Temple for Performing Arts in downtown Des Moines to contribute to that conversation.

To be timely, we’re releasing the entire Thinc Iowa Video Series this week as recorded via Livestream. Thanks to the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, a Kansas City-based foundation that works to harness the power of entrepreneurship and innovation, for sponsoring the Livestream and Video Series, and to our video and post-production team made up of Event1 Video and Evolve. Look for the final cut from Event 1 Video to be published in the coming weeks.

The second speaker in our Video Series: Paige Craig, co-founder and CEO of BetterWorks, a platform where businesses can quickly create better, more rewarding work environments for their employees.

In his talk, Craig focuses on passion and how to build a company, honing in on one of his principals, thinking big and executing small. In the second half of his talk, Craig dives into the story and mission of his startup.

“The idea around BetterWorks was based on this idea that whether you’re building refrigerators or you’re building cars or you’re building an insurance company, or you’re a startup, all of these great companies come from people …” Craig said. “Yet, the way we take care of employees has to change.”

Craig added: “We’re in this era where consumers want everything personalized, right now. They want their music, their content. And that’s the way benefits and the way we take care of employees should go to.”
