Omaha’s CoSentry acquired by private equity firm TA Associates

Private equity firm TA Associates announced Thursday it has acquired CoSentry, an Omaha-based provider of outsourced IT infrastructure services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"As a profitable and rapidly growing technology company with a seasoned management team, CoSentry is precisely the type of business in which TA seeks to invest," TA Associates principal Harry D. Taylor said in a release. "CoSentry has been repeatedly recognized as one of the country’s fastest growing internet infrastructure businesses. We will work closely with management to continue that growth and help realize CoSentry's full potential."

Founded in 2000, CoSentry provides data center, co-location, disaster recovery and cloud computing solutions to enterprise clients. The company also provides technical help desk and managed internet services through its network of data centers located across the Silicon Prairie in Kansas City, Mo.; Omaha and Papillion, Neb. and Sioux Falls, S.D.

TA Associates, established in 1968, brings to the table a capital base of more than $16 billion and investment expertise in technology, financial and business services, healthcare and consumer industries. TA's prior investments in the telecommunications and software include AboveNet, IntraLinks, McAfee, MetroPCS Communications, NetScout Systems, Network Appliance, Sophos Plc and WIND Telecom S.p.A.

"This partnership is validation of the soundness of our business model and prospects for continued success. With their financial support, experience investing in technology companies, strategic guidance and significant network of contacts, we anticipate a fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship with TA."

Selling shareholders for the acquisiton included private equity fund McCarthy Capital and investment firm WaittCorp Investments, both based in Omaha.
