Startup Weekend is coming to middle Missouri.

The 54-hour event, during which participants build ideas into web or mobile applications that could form the basis of a credible businesses, will make its debut in Columbia Sept. 30-Oct. 2 at the the Museao building (3500 Buttonwood Dr.).

Tim Miles of The Daily Blur will speak at Startup Weekend Columbia, which will follow the established Startup Weekend format by bringing together developers, designers and business people to suggest ideas on Friday night, to execute on them Saturday and Sunday and then to pitch their final products on Sunday evening to a panel of judges.

Tickets cost $99 per participant and can be completed on the Startup Weekend Columbia’s registration page. The discount code “COMO” is good for a discount of 15 percent on tickets. For more information, visit Startup Weekend Columbia’s site.

Here, per the event blog, is sampling of the buzz building around mid-Missouri’s first Startup Weekend:

“Executing on an idea is really hard and twice as hard if you are on your own. Startup Weekend is a great place for developers, designers, and marketers to team up and build an idea in a weekend. What would take me a month to build can get done in one weekend thanks to all the expertise available from fellow attendees. I’m hoping Startup Weekend can jumpstart one of the ideas I have, but just don’t have the time or resources to execute on.”

– Wade Foster, expected participant who has attended Startup Weekend Kansas City

“For me the decision to travel from St. Louis to Columbia to attend Startup Weekend was a no brainer. Operating under the supervision of experienced entrepreneurs, in a super focused environment, is an incredibly valuable way to sharpen your skills and build something creative. Collaborating with other talented and driven entrepreneurs provides an incredible outlet for sharing ideas and getting valuable feedback. I am so excited to see what we can build.”

– Joe Baumberger, expected participant coming from St. Louis
