We’re in the process of rolling out a few updates to our site in the coming weeks, the first of which you’ll see live today, Facebook comments. Going forward, in order to comment on Silicon Prairie News, you’ll need to connect to your Facebook account, and when you do, you’ll see your beautiful mug and a bit of info about yourself pop up along with your comment. Comments left prior to this implementation have been moved down on each post and labeled “Archived Comments.”

As our community continues to grow, both online and offline, we’re excited to see this integration play a role in helping to connect more individuals. In making this switch, we were also influenced by the implementation of Facebook comments by traditional and new media outlets alike, such as the LA Times technology blog and TechCrunch.

Stay tuned for future updates, from small ones – we still need to sync up the posts’ comment totals with Facebook comments – to big ones – a full-fledged job board is in the works. Also, be aware that while our commenting system may have changed, our Commenting Policy is still the same.

So, what do you say, give it a try today? Leave us a comment below to let us know what you think of the new commenting system and what else you’d like to see improve on our site.
