Each week, we come across more and more stories in the Silicon Prairie that need to be heard. Whether it’s details about a freshly-launched product or the experiences of veteran entrepreneur, there are tales to be told all across the region, and we’re doing our best to cover them. 

With two full-time editors on staff and a just over a half-dozen contributors, we’re proud of what we’ve published so far and of the steady monthly increase in volume that we’ve witnessed. Looking ahead, we’re determined to step up our game, accelerating our growth by bringing more quality and timely content to the readers of Silicon Prairie News.

To achieve our aggressive goals, we’re looking for content creators – writers, photographers or videographers – to join our team of contributors.

What we seek from contributors:

  • Live or work in the vicinity of Omaha, Des Moines or Kansas City
  • Have interest in tech startups and entrepreneurship
  • Are community-minded

What content we’re looking to publish:*

  • Profiles of entrepreneurs, creatives and investors
  • Profiles of tech startups, established corporations and venture capital firms
  • Reports on legislation affecting the entrepreneurial ecosystem
  • Coverage of product launches
  • Event recaps

What we offer contributors:

  • Compensation for posts
  • Syndication – posts reach not only Silicon Prairie News visitors but also visitors to Omaha.com
  • Discounted or complimentary entry to Big Omaha and Thinc Iowa
  • Involvement in a startup news organization

To apply, send a short email to editor@siliconprairienews telling us why you’d like to be a contributor, why you think you’re qualified and three story ideas. Please attach your resume or a link to your LinkedIn account (if current) and three examples of your work or links to those examples.
