We’re back from a few days in New York City with a renewed energy for what we’re building here in the Silicon Prairie.

The purpose of the trip, in collaboration with the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce, was to connect with friends, supporters and individuals that we’ve developed relationships with but hadn’t had the chance to yet meet in person. We took the energy and message from the Silicon Prairie to the meetings and conversations we had around activity that’s taking place in our region.

The trip consisted of many back-to-back meetings starting on Tuesday morning and running all the way until our flight left the great city during the evening commute on Wednesday.

Dusty, Tom and I were especially fortunate to tour the offices and meet with the teams of charity: water, Warby Parker, Dogpatch Labsfoursquare, Gilt Groupe, Pencils of Promise, Nasty (a to be launched maker of natural personal care products) and several more.

Also, one of the highlights of our event was a get together we coordinated at The Standard Hotel’s Biergarten and although the temperatures and humidity provided little relief during the day, the crowd of more than 30 who came out enjoy the time spent together.

In short, it was a jam packed few days, and I’m reminded of how great the opportunity is to do something of enormous scale. At times, I find that we can perhaps get too focused or buried in what we’re working on, but seeing the interconnectedness of our community to the rest of the country is encouraging.

Keep up the great work, and we’ll do our part in putting the Silicon Prairie on the map!
