The folks at Bozell have added a new piece, and potentially many pieces, to the mobile puzzle through their recent work with QR codes.

In May, the marketing company paired designers and programmers to create QRinkle, a free QR code generator. With this application, users input a web address or plain text into the site’s custom form and with a simple ‘generate’ click, voilà, they receive a downloadable QR code.

“We really wanted to dig in and develop a simple service that would be beneficial to our clients and the community at large,” said Scott Rowe, Bozell’s partner-in-charge of digital marketing.

Rowe recognizes that there are a lot of free QR generation websites currently available, but he said that the team felt there was not one that existed with the simple look and streamlined functionality that should be expected from this type of system.

Although Bozell’s site is simple to use, what provides additional value is the seamless option to sync with Google Analytics. With one extra click and a few bits of information, QRinkle helps track the QR code and integrates results of QR campaigns for users to evaluate the code’s effectiveness.

For Bozell, an organization that focuses on qualitative and quantitative results for its clients, QRinkle was created for one reason.

“Our goal wasn’t to create the most widely used QR code generator,” Rowe said. “It was to develop a simple tool that our clients and partners could leverage for their campaigns.”

In the first month since its launch, Rowe said that more than a couple hundred codes have been generated and the team has been happy with its response.

Rowe said to look forward to future system functionality such as A/B testing, URL re-routing and compiled analytics. Including these powerful features for users will create a robust product offering that Rowe said could potentially open QRinkle as a source of revenue for Bozell.
