Starting today, the Kansas City edition of StartupDigest is combining with Des Moines and Omaha to offer our region a single place to find a curated list of startup events. Danny Schreiber and I will work together to make sure the right stuff is in each issue, and we will try to highlight something from each city. Of course, we will try to keep the bar high so that this is really just events that you want to attend.

I have been doing the local Kansas City digest since last November, and despite the obvious growth in our community, there aren’t always great events going on every single week. This new format will solve that problem and means we are transitioning to a regular, once-a-week digest. Still, the digest is about people and connections, not just content.

During the past year, I have formed some great relationships with people in the other Silicon Prairie homes. One of my friends, Brandon Ratzlaff, met Dwolla CEO Ben Milne at Silicon Prairie News Kansas City Launch Party, and Brandon now works at Dwolla. These kinds of events aren’t rare, but we could stand to see more of them. We have so much to offer one another that it makes sense for us to all get to know one another better. So we hope that by getting news on events in other cities we will encourage you to share in experiences that you might not otherwise consider. In doing so, we will form tighter bonds, invest in one another and continue to build the Silicon Prairie into one of the great places to live and build companies.

Silicon Prairie News will continue to publish its weekly events posts, which will contain not only startup-related events but also events of interest to the larger creative community. To receive email notifications from the new, epanded version of StartupDigest, visit startupdigest.com.
