On the eve of Big Omaha 2011, we could not be more excited to formally thank the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation for stepping forward as the premier sponsor of our event once again. It’s a tremendous boon for the Silicon Prairie region to be able to claim the organization, which is known worldwide as “the Foundation for Entrepreneurship” and is headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., among our local assets.

We’ve had the distinct pleasure of working with Nick Seguin, manager of entrepreneurship for Kauffman, on the sponsorship this year, and we encourage you to introduce yourself to him during the event. In addition to Seguin, the Kauffman team will be out in full force, as they’re sending select members of their current Kauffman Labs cohort to Big Omaha.

For more on the good work of the Kauffman Foundation, visit kauffman.org:

The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation was established in the mid-1960s by the late entrepreneur and philanthropist Ewing Marion Kauffman. Based in Kansas City, Missouri, the Kauffman Foundation is among the 30 largest foundations in the United States with an asset base of approximately $2 billion.

Our vision is to foster “a society of economically independent individuals who are engaged citizens, contributing to the improvement of their communities.” In service of this vision, and in keeping with our founder’s wishes, we focus our grant making and operations on two areas: advancing entrepreneurship and improving the education of children and youth. We carry out our mission through four programmatic areas: Entrepreneurship, Advancing Innovation, Education, and Research and Policy.

Also, say hello to Wendy Overton (see our post Kauffman Foundation announces Big Omaha ticket constest winner), an entrepreneur from Baton Rouge, La. who won Kauffman’s Big Omaha “Express Your Pledge” contest.
