Stackd announced this week that they’re allowing early adopters a chance to check out their software at no fee prior to their official launch in May.

The two founders, Stephen Ausman and Frederick Galoso, are students at the University of Iowa and have been working on the project for six months.

In an email interview this week, Galoso described the company as a “collaborative web hosting and file storage. It makes sharing and working on websites, projects, and files easy, on a built-to-scale, software-free, access anywhere platform.”

The free trial is available through May 7. Following the trial, subscription plans will be available starting at $9.95 monthly.

The team provided an introduction to Stackd on its blog on April 25:

Since we began work on Stackd six months ago, the most common question we’ve received has (unsurprisingly) been “What is Stackd?”. We didn’t set out to be a “stealth” startup, however we didn’t want to hype up an unfinished product. Over the past few weeks, Stackd has finally reached a point where we’re ready to share what Stackd is and why we built it.

You can read the full post on the Stackd blog. And you can learn more about Stackd in the coming weeks here on Silicon Prairie News, as we’ll keep up with Stackd and share more as they progress through the official launch.
