TechCrunch just broke the news that the highly-anticipated mobile app of South by Southwest Interactive, Zaarly – the startup that raised a $1 million seed round two weeks after it was founded – has now gone live with a beta (post updated 3:15 p.m.: not yet officially “launched,” but Zaarly has gone live at SXSW).

“We facilitate in-person transactions so it is hyper-local in the truest sense,” said co-founder Bo Fishback in a TechCrunch TV interview after offering this example:

If you want to pay $50 for someone to bring you a pizza and you want it in the next 45 minutes, you post it on Zaarly and we make sure it gets as broadly syndicated as possible. People who are willing to fulfill that order for you, in that amount of time, for that amount of money, can make it happen.

Instead of releasing this app into multiple app stores (or attempting to get it approved by multiple app stores), Zaarly built an HTML 5 mobile app on Zaarly.com for those in Austin. And as we noticed last week, local sites such as omaha.zaarly.com have emerged for future local editions.

Check out today’s TechCrunch article to learn more, “Hungover At SXSW? Use Zaarly To Get Your Gatorade And Advil,” and if you’re in Austin give the app a try a zaarly.com. If you’re not in Austin but are curious about what buy offer are being posted, visit austin.zaarly.com.

Here are a few screenshots of the app (from zaarly.com):
