Nebraska Global / Don’t Panic Labs – QA Engineer – Startup Job!

Nebraska Global is a venture fund that invests in and grows software companies. It’s also an operational holding company built to support the portfolio of companies in the Nebraska Global family via holding company functions. It’s goal is to invest in viable, long-term profitable software companies and seek to build an influential technology environment in Nebraska.

Description

Do you like breaking things? Do you have a knack for finding bugs in software? Do you have an insatiable desire to know how things work? If so, you may be who we’re looking for.

Don’t Panic Labs is seeking an individual for our Quality Assurance team. This person must be able to thrive in a fast‑paced setting, have a keen eye for detail, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. This person should be experienced in testing both web-based and rich-client applications, and have a firm understanding of how testing fits into the software development lifecycle. They must also be able to put themselves in the shoes of both software engineer and end-user to help ensure products are technically sound while being an advocate for the user.

At Don’t Panic Labs, understanding how to test software is only half the story. QA engineers should be curious; they should have unmatched inquisitiveness when it comes to how applications technically function and how/why the applications they test will be used.

But testing is only part of the picture. At Don’t Panic Labs, the QA engineer is an integral part of the project team. From a project’s beginning they work alongside software engineers and product managers in contributing to the design of the product. They cannot be afraid to speak up if they have a concern or see a potential issue. This person should also be forward-thinking so test plans can be considered early in the process of product planning.

Qualifications

  • A strong background in Microsoft technologies is strongly preferred. This includes experience with C# or VB.NET and the testing tools available in Visual Studio (e.g., TFS and Test Manager).
  • A background in security and load/performance testing is a major plus.
